Years ago, when I was a youngster looking for interesting things to stuff my ears with, I was an avid reader of musical magazines (back in the day when internet access was granted to a small group of people in the world) and reviews of live records were extremely rare, as editors mostly agreed live recordings present bands in the worst possible manner. Seemed weird at the time and now, years later, it seems completely idiotic. Live recordings present the band how the band actually sounds, without the polished production and the entire set up and all the fancy stuff a band is capable of putting on stage, to hide the fact that their sound is utter crap. In a live recording, you hear the artist / band as they straightforward are. You actually hear the band this way. The bands soul, if you will.
Necrodeity celebrated 10 years of existence in the beginning of 2022, yet not a lot of their music was released (just enough to spark an interest in the underground extreme metal circles). They apparently started in the beginning of 2012, even though the idea behind it was conceived a lot of time before it. The members worked together in Grave Relic, a cover band of old school death metal bands and soon realised they could be lashing out their anger combined with their creativity on their own. A single 'Sorcerous-Nex-Invocation (Live at Cthulhu Mantra)' was issued in 2013 and then all of the sudden, everything went quiet for a long 6 years, when the band issued another single 'Satanas', a cover of the Sarcofago song. And then silence again.
The band finally decided to bring their brutality on the world in 2022, so in April we got a digital release of a live compilation 'Death over Kalikshetra', which was followed by a new demo 'Left Emanations' in June and a split with Brahmastrika, another punishing act from Necrodeities hometown Kolkata a month later. 'Death over Kalikshetra' features four different live recordings made between 2014 and 2015. Through this collection, even though it shows only four moments in the bands history, you're able to hear the progression of the overall sound of a young band making up their recognizable sound, which turned out to be one of the foundation of the India's currently leading war metal / noise scene (Tetragrammacide, Kapala, Aparthiva Raktadhara etc. If you know, you know. If you don't, go educate yourself, you won't regret it).
So, in conclusion: If you ever decide to have sex while listening to music, choose a live record, because this way you'll get an applause or a cheer every couple of minutes. Just don't choose this record, because you'll end up badly injured. This is absolute insanity in the best and purest forms of aggression.
