[REVIEW] ACID THRONE - The Demo [Self-Released]

A catchy and powerful opening demo release from Norwich, England, as Stoner/Doom Metal quartet ACID THRONE announce their presence with a mixture of down tuned fuzz fuelled riffs, colossal plunging guitar leads and drumming, and a rather soothing and meandering style in between the heavy chunks of aggression as the band like to wander into melodic pastures at random intervals.

The above neatly sums up opening track 'Confess Your Sins' which to me has traditional doom subject matter at it's heart, a delving into religious waters and maybe even some good old fashioned witch persecution on the side. Far more intense sounding is 'Forgotten Realm's', whose slower, darker acoustic tones lead to crushing slabs of heavy Doom Metal artillery, as crawling guitar leads, monolithic drum play and rumbling bass combine to belt out of solid wall of noise.

At eighteen minutes in length this demo will definitely leave you wanting more, which is lucky because if you buy the cassette you can hear it on both sides! Finishing off and also continuing with the religious overtones, 'Altars', a steady bout of pleasing doom heaviness, Acid Throne do more than enough on their opening demo to leave you wanting more!
