[REVIEW] GNASH - Shared Nightmares EP [2022] Self-Released

Year: 2022

Columbus Sludge newcomers Gnash have unleashed a debut four track EP entitled 'Shared Nightmares' which opens with a gnarly bass intro, similar to 'I Am Am The Carcass' by The Abominable Iron Sloth, before sliding effortlessly into cavernous groove drenched riffs, raw sounding vocals that sear the ears with their misery, and a powerful combo of thick thudding drum beats and resounding bass lines. Opening tracks 'The Darker Half' and 'Broken Mirror Image' are played at the same clip, mid tempo intractable alms of pure fuzzed out pulverizing Sludge. 'The Amniotic Lake' brings with it a surge in rhythm as the riffs have a profoundly more resonant tone to them, boosted by low pitched, satiating bass play. To close with, Sacrificial Bastard' notches the unrefined, angst ridden vocals even as the bands inject more groove and melody into the final track. A short but sweet EP to start off the bands journey but one that begs to be heard, and in turn will make you beg to hear more!
