It's been almost a decade but Phoenix, Arizona's Brutal Death Metal trio Necrambulant have returned with a brand new EP of festering gore laden brutality! The 'A Feast of Festering Flesh' EP features six short tracks and has been put out on CD and Cassette by Gore House Productions.
Revelling in sickeningly thick, meaty chugging riffs, Necrambulant have a powerful sound from the start, save for one element of the drums which sounds like a tin can is being tortured beyond all endurance. This is instantly forgotten though when the first bout of crushing, plunging riff-age kicks in. In places the drumming can sound a little cluttered but for the most part the vicious and unrelenting beats are a perfect accompaniment for the bruising bass play and brutalizing guitar leads, not to mention the blood curdling growling vocals. In fact, the little imperfections in the production and the filth ridden nature of the bands sound all combine well to create an atmosphere of grizzly, putrid Death Metal savageness.
It's ugly, bruising and obnoxious, but it's also hard to ignore. Nearly ten years away has not quelled the bands desire to shock, and the festering desire of putridity still lives on in this sickening trios souls! (Luke Hayhurst)
